New Artwork

Wanted to give a big thanks to Foust for drawing the new logo.  Unfortunately, I had to shrink it down so the quality is somewhat diminished.  Here is a link to the full image without the CR logo part if you want it for a wallpaper.

Eternal Champions

CarlisleGo here.  Patient and I were talking about crappy fighting games from the past tonight.  He brought up a game called Eternal Champions.  It took me a minute to remember this game (After watching the video I remember why).  This game came out in 1993 one year after Mortal Kombat hit the arcades.  There was a trend for several years of putting out marginally functional fighting games that had gory stage and character fatalities. See Eternal Champions, Primal Rage, etc...

Mortal Kombat Demo

So i played Mortal Kombat on PS3 last night.... First let me say, you could only get it as a Playstation Plus subscriber, which is around the same price as XBL. On ps3, its free to play online, but to get discounts and early acess to content, you have to be a PS+ member. So I bought the cheapest one you can get, 3 months for $17.99.... Damnit... $17 to get acess to a game that i could play for free just a week later.... thats right, next week, it will be available to everyone(as a demo, full game in april). Im a dumbass, but i digress... back to the topic..
So i played the demo for about an hour or so, and my impressions of the game are that its gonna be fun. I enjoy the blood and gore more than anything else... I love that kind of stuff. Playinga few rounds of  this game and then doing a stage fatality or a normal fatality is like an animated Cannibal Corpse song... The most over the top brutality that they could think of living vicarioulsy in the game that is Mortal Kombat.
First off, from what i could tell, the demo is only 1 player. You can swap over to 2 players, but it wont let you select anything from the menu... thats my first gripe. Second, the single player consists of 4 matches(against the 4 characters that are selectable for the demo) and from what looks to be a boss battle vs Goro.... The fights leading up to Goro are pretty fun. Scorpion, Sub Zero, Milena, and Johnny Cage(fag)... Scorpion was fun to play with, as was sub zero, but Milenna... Oh Milenna... Very Nice.... sorry, let me wipe my pants off real quick... there we are. The moves are just the way they were performed back in the day... simple back back then punch, or down foward then kick... all easy. The combos are really cool too. I just need some time to learn the ins and outs of the characters. So when u get to Goro, it acts like the fight is about to start.....  then a montage video... :’’( booo... Alas, the video was really nice. It featured characters and combos that i havent seen before,. Barakka, Stryker, and what i think was Ermac... It also showed some of the mini games that will be featured. Test your Sight, Test Your Might, Test Your Luck, and one more i cant remember rihgt now. Also, the krypt will be back for all the unlockables... Its gonna be good, im calling it right now... It will have above an 8.5... im gonna say 9.2... you heard it hear first. See you guys later

Mood and Winning

What’s up guys, Patient here with my first blog! Yay! I’m a blogger... No Homo. I just want to start off by welcoming any newcomers to our site here. Carlisle Go has been so gracious to bless us with a site to meet and discuss local fighting game news.... We will, on occasion, talk about other games out there, but this is mostly for “competitive” fighting games.
My topic for today is “Mood”. I noticed the other day, when I was playing MvC3, I went 15-1 but the next day when I played I lost horribly. I didn't know what happened and then it dawned on me. I was tired from lack of sleep and a long day at work when I lost. When I went 15-1 I was in a good mood and ready to play. This may seem obvious, but when you have an obsession with a game you want to play all the time. If I've had a bad day, I usually tend to play bad, but I don’t always put the two together. I get home and think, do I really want to play right now… so I do, and I get rolled by my opponent…its like I'm playing in slow motion while he is dancing all over the place. I will get so pissed off and I come damn near throwing my stick. (I’ve done that before and learned a lesson, so I would prefer not to do that again.)  On the other side of the road, I have a good day at work, come home and I'm pumped to play, I usually do so well, its almost like the other person is playing in slow motion and I can read their mind....
So, if you too are like this, this is what I can recommend... If you start playing terrible online against people, just chill out, go into training mode or mission mode and do combos... if u start missing every one of your combos... take a 10 min break and come back. Usually taking a few minutes to relax will lower your blood pressure and ease your mind. If you come back and are still just not getting it, play something else and try the next day. Don't give up, just take a break from it. I cant tell you how many times when I was playing street fighter every day, I would have a day where I couldn't win a single game... I say F*** this game, and turn it off for a few days.. then I have a feeling of confidence and an urge to play, and I start dominating.
All of this has to do with your mood while playing. I'm not saying that you shouldn't grind it out in training mode making sure you nail every one of your combos, cause that can be frustrating as well. You, as a player, need to know yourself as a competitor, to really win at fighting games. Sometimes you need that extra push from a friend to get you into the right mindset to play. When I first got MvC3 I loved it, the next day I hated it, then I said I’m never playing again... then a couple of friends kept telling me to play it and it will get better, and it has... But at the same time, I still think there are a lot of things that need to be fixed....
Well, that was probably a bunch of unorganized sentences, but it still has a message in there somewhere... Next blog, I will be writing on what I like and dislike about MvC3 and possibly SSF4 AE, and about the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat
